Yes agreed. Most people only want to read articles and opinions that validate their existing beliefs. I notice it here on Medium an awful lot. Writers publish an opinion piece that ignores proven facts but when the facts are brought up by the readers, the writer is in denial. If you scroll through comments on a news piece on Facebook, people only like comments that they agree with purely because they validate their existing beliefs or values. They see a comment they disagree with and dismiss it with, “oh that’s complete rubbish!” We’re all a product of our upbringing, background, beliefs, values and experiences and that’s why we sometimes have difficulty seeing another person’s point of view as being valid.
