I would say no because I think a friendship has to be actively worked on by BOTH people for it to thrive. If you don’t see or talk to each other for months then you can’t call it a REAL friendship. Facebook friends don’t count because that’s completely passive and doesn’t require any effort. There are lots of fake FB ‘friends’ that only want to look at your photos and see what you’re up to from a distance but they don’t really want to be involved in your life. Circumstances in life change the nature of friendships and one sided friendships don’t work.
